Timing Elements in Poker BluffingSomething similar to a nice, perfect poker shuffling, poker bluffing also takes perfect timing to perpetrate. Timing here has 3 vital elements. Perfectly timed poker bluffings hit targets accurately and pave the way to a hefty pot. But one slight timing error and we end up with disaster. Bluffers caught in the act are scorned at tables and it might be sessions or even days or weeks before people forget and give the bluffer a chance at another image. So we better make good our poker bluffing. The first timing element in poker bluffing is position. We first focus on the player acting before us. We do poker bluffing to make the player think what we want the player to think of us and influence the player's decisions. When the bluff works that player is bound to react and inadvertently give us a tell or hand-read that would better our hand play. Next, when it's out turn to act, we may also apply some amount of poker bluffing to stimulate a reaction from the next player or other reactors (callers, raisers, or checkers) to see what others also have. Then we have to consider the phase of the game we're in. In tournaments, most players dread the play immediately pre-bubble. They tighten up because it's almost elimination round. As such, they mostly fold in the face of what they perceive as a hand strength against them. Poker bluffing can work against them at this phase. Timing in poker bluffing also considers playing contra-table - when it's tight we play loose; when it's lose we play tight. And it makes sense. When the table is tight our seeming looseness would catch them off balance, and the same with being seemingly tight when the table is loose. Image also plays a lot in getting a good timing to work for our poker bluffing. If we're marked out permanently as a loose player it may not do wonders for our poker bluffing. Once we try a bluff it may not be very convincing. The same if we've permanently tagged as a tight player. However, tight players known to either bet big or fold can make poker bluffing work incredibly for them. If they bluff with a big bet even if the hand they have tells them to fold as they often do, players might think they really have something to reckon with this time. Good timing in poker bluffing makes everything work out. Knowing the elements that make it perfect is essential. |
